Peppers Demystified

Scorpions / Reapers / Vipers / Black Pearls / Scotch Bonnets / Bishop’s Crown
Culinary / Medicinal / Ornamental/Pickling / Roasting / Drying / oh my...

What in the world do these things have in common?  What on earth are we going to be learning about?  Reptiles…not a chance!  Royalty…too posh!

From ornaments to ointments, from heat to sweet, and from sauce to spice.  We'll travel the globe from Mexico to South America, from Spain to Bulgaria and on to Italy.  We’ll even visit India, Thailand and Asia in our quest to unravel the mystery that the humble pepper has become.  Join us for this fascinating journey into the world of peppers.

About Our Garden

Our Garden is a public demonstration garden of the UC Master Gardener Program of Contra Costa County, located in Walnut Creek at the corner of North Wiget Lane and Shadelands Drive, just off Ygnacio Valley Road. From April through October, weekly speakers present a variety of information on edibles gardening and home gardening in general.

UC Master Gardeners of Contra Costa maintain the garden and interface with the general public. We encourage you to bring in your home and garden questions and talk with a UC Master Gardener at the Ask a Master Gardener Table (9 am to Noon)!
