This workshop is an introductory hands-on lesson teaching waterbath and steam canning methods and safety standards of canning high acid foods. In this workshop we will be making a holiday pepper jelly to enjoy later, give as a gift or you may want to consider setting aside a jar to enter in the 2018 OC Fair. The Preserved Foods competition is a great way to show off the fruits of your labors. Entering a jar at the county fair can not only earn you a ribbon, but there are also cash prizes. Each participant will take home what they make in class. Ages 9 and up are welcome, but children must be accompanied by an adult. Class size is limited to 2 participants, so sign up now

When: Saturday, Dec. 2, at 9:30 a.m. RSVP by Nov. 30. 

About the Speaker: Workshops are instructed by Pamela Wnuck, a University of California Cooperative Extension Master Food Preserver of Orange County and the OC Fair Culinary Supervisor. A multi-blue ribbon winner, Pamela shares her passion for cooking with fresh garden ingredients, and shares priceless tips on how to preserve the harvest. You can reach her at pwnuck@ocfair.com

Tools and Materials: $25 fee per person for materials.Each participant must bring 3 half pint sized (8 oz.) regular mouth canning jars with lids and bands. All other materials will be provided in class.
