If this is August, it must be tomato season. Are those delicious orbs that grow in all sorts of shapes, colors, and sizes overrunning your garden? Can’t stop yourself from bringing home bags of fresh tomatoes from the farmers market? What to do? Join the UCCE Master Food Preservers of Amador/Calaveras Counties and learn ways to freeze, dehydrate and can your tomato bounty so you can enjoy it year-round. Different types of tomatoes produce different results when canning; pick a recipe based on desired results. Learn the ins and outs of freezing tomatoes to produce a quality product and dehydrating tomatoes safely to use in soups, and stews. Best of all, go home with inspiration and lots of recipes to try on your own.
