2003 statewide retiree reunion
Following lunch at COPIA, we enjoyed a tour of Robert Mondavi Winery and the opportunity to taste grapes from the vines and wines from the cellar. Dinner at V. Sattui Winery was a perfect ending to a very full day.
The following day we learned a great deal from farm advisor Paul Vossen about the growing California olive oil industry and UC's extensive involvement in that industry. Marciel Klenk and B. Diane Wallace presented a tasting of several California extra virgin olive oils which have been certified by the California Olive Oil Council, founded by Paul Vossen. This delightful tasting experience convinced many to decrease their dependence on "foreign oil!" Marciel and Diane then gave all guests the opportunity to make their own flavored vinegars. Some found this to be so enjoyable, they produced several bottles. In these two days, much was learned and many friendships were rekindled.
