Greetings all. I'll get back to some serious posts, soon. However, I thought I would celebrate the turning of the seasons with song. Nerdy songs. Songs only a scientist could love.
FYI, some of these come with annoying commercials that you need to skip...Enjoy.
First, near and dear to a weed scientist's heart, "The Wild Radish Song". To the tune of "Somebody I Used to Know".

For the graduate students, a Lady Gaga parody "Bad Project".

Or the "Krebs Cycle Rap" to "Thrift Shop".

And, last but not least, an "interpretive dance" describing protein synthesis from Stanford ca. 1971. Feel the free love!
On a personal note, I was exposed to this short film in graduate school (1998) when my biochemistry professor broke out an old reel-to-reel projector and played it for us. Although he never said anything, I still harbor a suspicion that he was one of the dancers.

You're welcome. Have a wonderful spring...
Figure 1. Although it seems like it should be a parody, "The Return of the Giant Hogweed" is a "proper" song by Genesis off of their 1971 album "Nursery Cryme". Giant hogweed (Heracleum manteazzianum) is big and mean to say the least. The sap is phytotoxic in the presence of sunlight; contact can result in blistering and scarring, and—if it gets in the eyes—blindness.
