Hello
everyone! These posts will keep you updated on the progress of our 3 trials. I'll briefly introduce each one and state the current st
ate of affairs here. Please email me with any concerns or comments at callan@ucdavis.edu.
Nut phenology
The trees are looking good this year in each of the sites except at Huron where my Kerman A tree is looking a bit thin
. B and C look good, but I'm worried I may run out of nuts on A before harvest.
The lab is going well. We have one full time helper, Sahar, who is doing a great job at a good clip. We just lost our intern Evann to a Kraft summer internship, but we have two replacements (Natalie and Matthew) to replace her. Just in time for the embryo development.
The data is looking consistent among the sites using the function of degree days for each cultivar's development. We have a statistician helping us crunch numbers.
Botrytis in Pete 1
Our preliminary results from Dr. Michailides indicated no unusual or elevated presence of the fungal spores. I will be delivering more samples this Monday for inspection.
Thinning in Pete 1
The thinning trial is going well. Details and pictures will be uploaded to the site shortly.
