1) Center for Produce Safety
Concept Proposal Due Date: December 9, 2014 **New process this year**
Purpose: Core produce safety research objectives cut across all fresh fruits, vegetables and nuts, in production, packing, processing, cooling, storage, transportation, receiving and point-of-sale environments. These research objectives are broad in scope and are written with the intent to encourage research that will improve our understanding of potential produce safety hazards, risks and routes of contamination, and aid in development of more effective, science-based risk identification and characterization.
2) NOAA – 2015 NOAA California Bay Watershed Education and Training (B-WET) Program
Submission Due Date: November 21, 2014
Purpose: The California B-WET Program is a competitive grant program that supports existing, high quality environmental education programs, fosters the growth of new, innovative programs, and encourages capacity building and partnership development for environmental education programs throughout the entire the San Francisco Bay, Monterey Bay, and Santa Barbara Channel watersheds. Successful projects provide Meaningful Watershed Educational Experiences (MWEEs) for students and related professional development for teachers.
Proposals must address one the following areas of interest: (1) Meaningful Watershed Educational Experiences for Students; (2) Professional Development in the Area of Environmental Education for Teachers; (3) Meaningful Watershed Education Experiences focused on Ocean Acidification for Students or Teachers, (4) After School, Science Camps and Summer Programs (5) New Applicants and Projects. Proposals must address either Priority Areas (1), (2) or (3); and may include Priority Areas (4) or (5).
Defined as follows: a. Monterey Bay watershed- the counties of San Mateo, Santa Cruz, Santa Clara, Monterey, San Benito, and San Luis Obispo; b. San Francisco Bay watershed- the counties of Marin, San Francisco, Alameda, Contra Costa, Sonoma, Mendocino, Humboldt, Del Norte, Trinity, and Santa Rosa; c. Santa Barbara Channel watershed- the counties of Santa Barbara and Ventura;

3) Western SARE Competitive Grants – Professional and Producer Grants
Submission Due Date: December 3, 2014
Purpose: With a Professional + Producer Research & Education Grant, an agricultural professional and five (5) producers work together to develop a proposal to conduct both research and education on a sustainable agricultural topic and incorporate such items as: on-farm/ranch demonstrations, farmer-to-farmer educational outreach and other approaches to assist in producer adoption in an area of sustainable agriculture. The goal is to achieve results that can be communicated to producers and professionals and can improve income, the environment, communities and quality of life for all citizens.
