Dear Jeannette,
Thank you for your article and interest in oak woodlands. We have a 50 acre woodland with
several thousand oaks ten miles west of Corning in Tehema county. We do not farm or graze cattle. There are deer and various woodpeckers as well as squirrels, gophers, opossums,
raccoons, coyotees, skunks, pumas, bobcats and two humans. In several stands of oaks
the trees are young and very crowded. We need advice on thinning. Do you know anyone
in the Sacramento Valley that could advise us?We will gladly pay the consultation.

Thank you,
Tom Morrison

I suggest you contact the Tehema County UC Cooperative Extension office. Josh Davy, the livestock and natural resources farm advisor, may be able to help you or help you find a consultant.
