The 4-H year will end on June 30th, and youth are well underway in numerous projects offered throughout Placer County ranging from community service, to public speaking, to small and large animals. In addition to the variety of 4-H projects, youth are also able to participate in events such as the Annual County Presentation Day.
On February 28th, youth had the opportunity to participate in County Presentation Day. Youth from 5 years of age to 19 years old had the opportunity to give presentations and practice their public speaking skills. Youth that place gold or blue then have the opportunity to move forward to a multi-county Sectional Presentation Day on March 28th and after high enough placement there can move on to State Presentation Day held at UC Davis.
There are few platforms for youth to give presentations and practice public speaking at a young age, and Placer County 4-H is excited to offer such opportunities. The overall consensus was that youth did a wonderful job presenting topics from goat breeding to favorite instrument, and many more at County Presentation Day.
The opportunities for youth in 4-H are limitless, and 4-H is active in a majority of communities within Placer County. A new 4-H year will begin on July 1st, so please visit our website and social media sites to get more information. Online enrollment will begin in Early August.
