Calling all youth, volunteers, leaders and friends! The I&R Committee would like to ask for nominations from our county for the Sate golden Clover Awards. The Golden Clover Awards recognize outstanding achievements of members, volunteers, program staff, and groups within the 4-H Youth Development Program. As I mentioned at the CCC Meeting, our committee is small with a limited knowledge of the accolades of every member and volunteer, and would appreciate your help with nominations for this great honor. Below is the link for the Golden Clover categories and a deeper explanation of the award. Please consider nominating someone from our county, we have so many generous volunteers and dedicated youth, let's get them recognized at this higher level!

Hi All,
It is count down time for those seniors who are applying for one of the five North Central Section scholarships. They are due in the Sonoma County 4-H Office by April 28. I have attached the applications for your convenience. The Joanne Ward Memorial Scholarship of $500.00 is open to any 4-H who has served as a county All Star. You can be a continuing student or an entering freshman with a GPA of 3.0. The four scholarships of $250.00 each that are sponsored by NC Council have no restrictions but you must be an entering freshman in a college or trade school.
If someone is applying for the Joanne Ward Memorial Scholarship you only need to fill out that application. You will automatically be entered in the NC Scholarship pool.
Please pass this on to anyone who is graduating this year or who qualifies for the Joanne Ward Scholarship. Any question, just ask.
If scholarship applications are not on this blog, please contact the 4-H office
Many thanks,
Mary Engebreath

From the State 4-H Office:
Dear 4-H Community
What does “member in good standing” mean for you as a 4-H member? What about “project completion”? These and other terms are common in 4-H but there are different requirements across clubs and counties. To help make the 4-H experience fair for every member regardless of which club or county they participate in, the 4-H Policy Advisory Committee which includes 4-H members, adult volunteers, and 4-H YDP staff underwent the task of not only defining these terms but also documenting the Steps to Success in 4-H. This document outlines:
- What member in good standing means,
- What is required for project completion,
- How members earn a year stripe and pin,
- Club participation standards,
- Requirements to exhibit at fair,
- Participation in 4-H events,
- And, ways to earn recognition in 4-H.
As a statewide program delivered locally, we set out to standardize some key aspects of the program while allowing some flexibility at the local level. For example, six hours of project instruction is required but project leaders may require more based on the project and goals. Please review this document for more information so you know the steps to your success in 4-H. The new Steps to Success in 4-Hand associated policy changes are effective July 1. We hope you find the Steps to Success in 4-H helps make your 4-H experience the best it can be.
Warmly,
Shannon Horrillo
