Great post, pretty well everything I wanted to know about thrips all in one spot. Two questions for you however Shimat:

1- Seeing that thrips exposure to pesticides might be mitigated by their affinity for small tight spaces, is there an adjuvant that could be added to the mix to agitate them out of these areas and get more insecticide exposure?

2- What's the deal with Gladiator and Torac? If you think it would be of merit to try these out in berries, we should go for it. All my equipment is ready to go at any time.

Thanks for the article!

Hi Mark: Good questions. I'm not aware of any products inducing irritation behavior. Something to look into in the future. Regarding insecticides: Gladiator and Torac -- not registered yet. It depends on the manufacture and our regulatory agency. Torac is effective against thrips (based on 2014 data) but we need more testing. The manufacture is very interested in moving forward with registration at the earliest.

Ok, thank you Shimat. We can talk more about this later, especially if the manufacturer is interested in working with berries.
