Placer County 4-H offers youth within 4-H the ability to participate in the 4-H Council Scholarship and the Hulbert Scholarship. All youth 14 to 19 years old may apply. The 4-H Council Scholarship, $300 for each selected youth, is provided by funds from the scholarship animal sold every year at the junior livestock auction at either Placer County or Gold Country Fairs. The Hulbert Scholarship, $2,500 for each selected youth, is formed from an endowment by the Hulbert Family to Placer County 4-H.
Eight youth applied and interviewed for the 4-H Council and Hulbert Scholarships on May 16th. Recipients of the 4-H Council Scholarship were Erika Molebash of Sheridan 4-H Club, Nicholas Balaguy of Gold Country 4-H Club, Henia Mackenroth of Gold Country 4-H Club, and Alora Jorgensen of Loomis Community 4-H Club and the recipients of the Hulbert Scholarship were Sarah Jolly of Eureka Granite Bay 4-H Club (outstanding girl), Eli Humber of Gold Country 4-H Club (outstanding boy), Erika Molebash of Sheridan 4-H Club, Geoffrey Leonhardt of Miners Ravine 4-H Club, and Henia Mackenroth of Gold Country 4-H Club.
The opportunities for youth in 4-H are limitless, and 4-H is active in a majority of communities within Placer County. A new 4-H year will begin on July 1st, so please visit our website and social media sites to get more information. Online enrollment will begin in early August.
