Allison Eggleston, a San Bernardino County 4-H All-Star and 12 year member of Monte Vista Diamonds 4-H club in Chino heard of a need of Loma Linda Hospital for heart shaped pillows for their cardiac patients. These pillows are used to hold close to the chest of patients who have had surgery to support the stitches and help with pain when the patients need to cough. Allison took this on as an Emerald Star Project. She was able to get other 4-H Clubs to make and donate pillows and her Church youth group donated tons of supplies to make blankets in addition to the pillows. Allison helped organize a night for the church youth to make pillows and blankets for the hospital. Allison has been able to donate 106 pillows and 10 blankets to Loma Linda Hospital. When contacted, the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton loved the idea of pillows and blankets being donated as they saw a need for their patients also. So far Allison has been able to deliver 48 pillows, 21 blankets and 12 baby blankets to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center where they will be distributed to the hospital's cardiac, bun center and pediatric patients. While still making pillows and blankets, Allison is looking for someone to take this project over as she is getting ready to move to Utah where she will be attending Utah State University in August.
