1) NIFA Organic Agriculture Research and Extension Initiative
Due Date: March 10, 2016
Supports projects that will enhance the ability of producers and processors who have already adopted organic standards to grow and market high quality organic agricultural products. Priority concerns include biological, physical, and social sciences, including economics. The OREI is particularly interested in projects that emphasize research, education and outreach that assist farmers and ranchers with whole farm planning by delivering practical research-based information.
2) Unified Grant Management for Viticulture and Enology
Due Date: January 31, 2016
Includes funding opportunities for the following entities: American Vineyard Foundation; CDFA Pierce's Disease and Glassy-winged Sharpshooter Board; California Grape Rootstock Improvement Commission and California Grape Rootstock Research Foundation; California Table Grape Commission; and Oregon Wine Board. Each agency has its own RFP with specific priorities.
3) NOAA - Strengthening the Public's and/or K-12 Students' Environmental Literacy for Community Resilience to Extreme Weather Events and Other Environmental Hazards
Due Date: February 8, 2016
To strengthen the public's and/or K-12 students' environmental literacy to enable informed decision-making necessary for community resilience to extreme weather events and other environmental hazards. Many U.S. communities are contending with issues related to preventing, withstanding, and recovering from disruptions caused by environmental threats and vulnerabilities. These threats and vulnerabilities include but are not limited to severe storms, tornadoes, hurricanes, flooding, heavy precipitation events, persistent drought, heat waves, increased global temperatures, acidification of the ocean, and sea level rise. Preparing for and responding effectively to present and future environmental challenges enhances the resilience of communities.
