How can agro-ecology inform city and county planning? It seems that diverting storm-water quickly from urban and suburban areas to the bay misses an opportunity to replenish ground water. Employing earthworks into developing surrounding areas to sink and spread water could provide havens for natural areas with oak woodlands. Riparian areas with drastic flood control hardscape could be restored by greenscaping with plants and trees to absorb overflow and restore habitat. Designing community gardens with rain harvesting cisterns and earthworks out-lined in Brad Lancaster's books could cool cities and make a more healthy environment. Agro-ecology sounds like a quality of life solution as well as food security. Thank you for the article
