You are so right. The original owners of our home planted a redwood tree in 1948. It is HUGE now and the only saving grace is that it takes up a back corner of the lot that does not impact on others. It's shadow prevents us from having solar panels installed. We hope to leave the problem of this tree to inheritors of the house. I suppose it seemed like a good idea at the time to plant a redwood tree on a residential lot, but it was not.
