Hello Dan
Hopefully you are fine.
This year I have planned to overseed alfalfa last year crop with oat and rye grass seed. What do you think it will be successful. I will share pics and sowing practice which we adopt. we will use this field for small ruminants grazing purpose. Kindly share your experience. thanks

Jamshaid;
Hope all is well there in the Punjab, Pakistan. Oat and ryegrass (Lolium) would be a good combination. Depending upon availability of seed, triticale is worth considering as well as barley. Triticale, wheat, or barley might be higher quality. If high quality is desired, harvest earlier. The type of ryegrass is important. If you need just a short term grazing, use Italian annual ryegrass varieties. If long term (years) consider mix of perennial ryegrass and other cool-season grasses. The perennial grasses will begin to dominate and will likely require N fertilizers to maximize yields. Wishing you well. Dan
