Thanks so much, Janet, for this note. I just spoke with a colleague about odd shaped vegetables when we went for a walk around our campus. Dan and I share our gardens' bounty. Many of my tomatoes---my tomato plant from last year is still producing---look like the one in the picture. And my local market frequently sells odd shaped vegetables of all kinds. I find they taste so much better.  
And what a delight to read news from UMaine, my Alma Mater. It brings back good memories of the farmer's market in Brewer, ME that I frequently while living there and attending UMaine at Orono.

Local market sells Bing cherries for half price. There are two fruits on one stem, and the crates are stamped "not for commercial use".
