When we securely pen up the livestock so they are safe, we greatly depopulate the food sources for the lions. They will kill again. They need food and get hungry too. Let's hope it is not human next time. Also, the attacks in the Malibu Mountains are much worse than the 9 pygmy goats taken in the OC attack. However, the Malibu attacks are not getting the publicity the OC attack has been given.

We must realize that we have entered their house and if we make easy food available they will take advantage of it. They are just doing what nature has programed them to do.

I lost five pet goats to a lion many years ago. I was heart broken, but realized that if I was going to live in lion country, then I needed to be smarter than the lions. Since then my goats live in the goat fort at night and when I'm not home, chain link sides and metal roof. I see the lions on my trail cameras regularly, but have never had another loss.
