Hi, Kathy,  
I looked up the meaning of "stipa" since it is E. stipator and it means "a metal bar, as on a belt" perhaps it could be the "barred hoverfly?

It is very wonderful post.The colors are striking--both the colors of the fly and the flowers. It's a striped fly, with black and white bands, one superimposed gold band.
