We are excited to announce that we have hired a new 4-H Youth Development Advisor for San Joaquin and Stanislaus counties - Dr. Emma Fete! She will be starting at the San Joaquin Cooperative Extension Office on December 4th.
Emma sent us a short biography about herself:
Emma recently completed her PhD at the Ohio State University, focusing on intercultural competencies and education program development. For the past five years, she taught university courses to a diverse undergraduate population and she worked in international secondary and special education for two years in Japan. Emma has also been teaching extracurricular horseback riding lessons for six years. She also has experience in public broadcasting, local and statewide government, and child-focused local non-profits. She is a dedicated horsewoman, who was an enthusiastic 4-H participant in her youth, and continues to coach 4-H participants.
The 4-H Advisor in each county is responsible for assessing the needs of the community and creating programming based on that assessment, conducting evaluations and research, acting as a liaison between the county and the University of California, and much more.
Please join us in welcoming Emma in December!
