America’s Farmers Grow Communities Project
Do you grow crops in Merced County, if so you can support your community! The Monsanto Company is offering to make a community donation to a farmer’s favorite nonprofit organization, this could be 4-H or another non-profit. The Monsanto Fund is offering to counties in seven states including Merced County a program called America’s Farmers Grow Communities Project.
The program is available to farmers actively engaged in farming some of these crops; pepper, tomato, onion, broccoli, cucumber, melons, watermelons, spinach, squash, pumpkin, sweet corn, lettuce, peas and garden beans as well as corn or cotton.
This program gives eligible farmers the opportunity to win $2,500 for their favorite local non-profit organization (501c3) such as 4-H, FFA, fire department, community center, etc.
All they have to do is complete a short entry form and pick the organization they wish to support. Get the form and more information at www.growcommunities.com or call 877.267.3332. One winner per eligible county will be selected at random and announced in August 2010.
