Are any of the "professional" gel products similar to or the same as cockroach control gels you can buy at home stores? Is there a solution for families that have cockroach infestations but don't want to contract with an (expensive) commercial pest control person? (Asking for a friend)

Many of the active ingredients in consumer cockroach gel products are similar, although some have lower percentages of the ingredient. Residents can find information about how to identify and manage cockroaches in the Pest Notes: Cockroaches on the UC IPM website at http://ipm.ucanr.edu/PMG/PESTNOTES/pn7467.html. This publication is currently being revised with names and active ingredients for new products, so stay tuned to this blog to find out when the updated version is published.

Great research! Thanks for the advice, as the Turkestan cockroaches have been driving me crazy.
