The drought hurts the trees, which usually leads to some over grazing also making added stress for the trees, but I think the wild hogs are doing a lot of damage. Where deer use to eat a few fresh acorns hogs cleanup old new root up the whole area so seedlings never get a start and run off the deer from the acorns. The woodpecker use to make holes in the pine trees and stick an acorn in those holes that are always empty now.
