Missy Gable (host)

Missy Gable graduated from the University of California, Davis with a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences and a Master of Science in Environmental Horticulture.  She continues to pursue personal and professional growth, training extensively with the American Management Association and completing the two year California Agricultural Leadership Foundation Fellowship in Strategic Leadership.   

Gable has served in career positions with the UC Davis California Center for Urban Horticulture and the UC Davis Arboretum.  In her current position, Gable serves as the statewide Director of the UC Master Gardener Program, hosted through UC Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources (UC ANR) and UC Cooperative Extension.  In this capacity, she provides academic and administrative oversight of 51 county-based programs.  In total, the UC Master Gardener Program has 6,237+ volunteers engaging with over a million Californians annually and has contributed more than 5 million volunteer hours in the service of extending research based information on home horticulture to the gardening public. 

The UC Master Gardener Program is committed to being the most recognized and reliable resource for quality gardening information in the state.  In addition, the Program is dedicated to serving as a national resource for eXtension Master Gardener Program tools and innovations.   

At UC ANR, Gable serves on the UC Integrated Pest Management Advisory Committee, the Directors Planning Committee, the Vice President’s Council and the Urban Agriculture Workgroup.  External to UC, she has served on the ‘Bee Board’ of Haagen-Dazs brand ice cream, as a Regional Director for the Alumni Association of the California Agricultural Leadership Foundation and on the board of TreeDavis.  Gable currently serves as the South West Regional Representative to the Extension Master Gardener National Committee.
