Demonstration Garden in San Andreas

New Outdoor Classroom for Demonstration Garden

New Outdoor Classroom at Demonstration Garden
In 2017 Calaveras Master Gardeners received a Whole Kids grant for $2000 to create an outdoor classroom area. Additional funds were contributed by the memorial fund for Master Gardener, Tony Abel. Designed and built by talented Master Gardener Erin
Harper, construction of the structure is now complete. The plan is to have this area
completely finished by our first Open Garden in March.

The UCCE Master Gardener of Calaveras County Demonstration Garden is located at 891 Mountain Ranch Road in San Andreas, CA. In September 2002 this 0.6 acre plot was designated for Master Gardener use by the Board of Supervisors. The Demonstration Garden is the venue for many of the educational events and outreach activities offered to Calaveras County citizens by Master Gardeners.

The Garden consists of several distinct areas each with it's own purpose or theme.

We avoid duplicating plants though they may fit in several categories.

Areas of the garden include:

Currently the garden is open to the public every Thursday for 'Open Garden Gate' Days. There are demonstrations, workshops, children's activities, garden tours, produce, seed exchanges and plant problem clinics. Check out Classes & Events for details.
