One step closer to a farmers market facility

The Agricultural Institute of Marin (AIM) took an important step in finalizing plans for a permanent year-round facility for the Thursday and Sunday Farmers Markets in San Rafael.  AIM’s Board of Trustees voted unanimously to enter into an agreement and partnership with the Marin’s Cultural and Visitor Services that transform the empty lot west of the Marin Veteran’s Memorial Auditorium into a covered area to accommodate its longest running and largest farmers markets.  Brigitte Moran, AIM Executive Director, explained “We are much closer to making this a reality.  It is an exciting opportunity for AIM, Marin, and most importantly the farmers and customers that come together as a community every Thursday and Sunday.”  Look for updates from AIM in the coming months.

Arrivederci to Adrienne Baumann and Welcome to Stacey Smith

Marin Organic (MO) provided Adrienne Baumann, Executive Director, a fitting farewell at its annual member’s dinner on June 5th.  Adrienne is moving to Milan, Italy with her family.  After working as the Assistant Director, Adrienne stepped into the Executive Director role to lead a critical strategic planning process for Marin Organic.  That planning process is now complete, with implementation to be led by MO Board Member Stacey Smith, who will serve as Interim Executive Director.  Adrienne’s contribution in renewing and energizing MO’s role and mission was timely and invaluable.  And Stacey’s willingness to take on the duties of Executive Director and her passion to carry out this plan is proof that MO is in good hands and will continue to be instrumental in supporting organic agriculture in Marin.
