Laurence Mound Travel Scholarship
Call for Proposals - $500 Travel Scholarships to the X International Symposium on Thysanoptera and Tospoviruses, Asilomar 2015
Purpose: The Laurence Mound Endowment for International Research on Thysanoptera and Tospoviruses was founded in September, 2005 and presented to Laurence Mound on the occasion of his Plenary Address at the VIII International Symposium on Thysanoptera and Tospoviruses. The goal of the endowment is to foster research and interaction between scientists studying Thysanoptera and Tospoviruses with special attention on encouraging young scholars. Eight $500 travel scholarships are available to support young scholars interested in attending the Xth International Symposium on Thysanoptera and Tospoviruses, May 16th through May 20th, 2015 in Asilomar.
Who is Eligible: Undergraduate or graduate students, postdoctoral scholars or new faculty members (two years or less in an assistant professor level faculty position or equivalent) are eligible to apply for the funds.
Application Details: Scholars must complete an application which includes a short (500 words max) statement of research planned for presentation and why this meeting is important to their future interest in Thysanoptera and Tospoviruses.
Timeline for Applications: Applications are welcome immediately and due by February 1, 2015. Selections will be announced March 1, 2015.
