Who We Are
Our water and soils are the lifeblood of California's economy. Increased competition for water and use of our soils effects how we deal with drought and manage agricultures productive capacity. University of California research improves water and soil management practices and policies by;
• Developing crops and irrigation methods that use less water
• Provide training on efficient design and management of
irrigation systems
• Establishing approaches to use degraded water and soils
• Support informed water and land-use policies
• Partnering with agricultural, environmental and governmental
groups to address water and soil quality issues including
improved salinity and pollutant management systems
We provide timely meeting support and engage in research project involvement that addresses local and statewide industry priorities. We are active members in support of the UC ANR Conservation Tillage and Water Quality workgroups.
Program Update
The 2011 Subsurface Drip Irrigation Symposium was very successful and included a variety of presentations related to the maintenance of drip systems and approaches to water management. Click the link below to review the presentation slides from our speakers.
Resarch Highlight
A recent study by UC’s David Sunding describes the economic impact caused by reduced irrigation deliveries and it’s negative effects on jobs in the San Joaquin Valley.
