Pistachio orchard weed survey

UCCE researchers James Schaeffer and Kurt Hembree, and Dr. Anil Shrestha at CSU-Fresno are investigating the distribution of a newly emerging problem weed, Alkaliweed, in pistachio orchards. They would like to request your help to identify locations of this plant in the Southern San Joaquin Area.  Please see the attached announcement for a description of Alkaliweed and instructions for how to report sightings.

Central Valley Almond Day Reminder!

Please join us for Central Valley Almond Day tomorrow Friday, June 9th

Fresno Fairgrounds Commerce Building

Central Valley Almond Day is a new free event that will feature UC Cooperative Extension educational presentations, important updates on laws and regulations from the Fresno Ag. Commissioner’s Office, and a tradeshow featuring new commercial innovations to help growers reach their greatest production potential. The meeting is aimed at new and experienced almond growers, production managers, and pest control consultants. The event will wrap up with a free Tri-tip lunch!

2.5 CE Credits (0.5 Laws, 2.0 Other) and 3.5 CCA Credits (1.5 Nutrient Management,
 0.5 Soil & Water Management, Integrated Pest Management) will be offered.

Weekly ET reports by email

The California Department of Water Resources and the University of California Cooperative Extension have teamed up to provide Weekly ET Reports to agricultural water users. Reports include water use information for a variety of crops. See the attached document "How to Use ET for Irrigation Scheduling" for more information. If you would like to receive weekly ET reports for selected CIMIS stations in Madera, Fresno, and Tulare Counties, please email Fresno County Nut Crop Advisor, Mae Culumber at cmculumber@ucanr.edu.
