Food Safety Horticultural Crops

Summary ANR activities in broad and multidisciplinary topics impacting microbial food safety among existing workgroups continue to be fragmented and diffuse. Several workgroups with natural disciplinary match, such as environmental and crop production water quality, to this topic have rebuffed overtures to include produce food safety in their program. The proposed workgroup would establish a focal point for campus and county based faculty and Advisors to develop and coordinate multidisciplinary and diverse clientele-directed programs applied research, education, extension, and outreach specific to this critical topic.
