Master Gardeners offer free classes most Saturdays of the year. No advance registration is needed in most cases.

6/23 Making Your Yard a Habitat for Birds Instructor: Gail Fulbeck

Master Gardener and casual bird watcher Gail Fulbeck will discuss some common backyard birds and share strategies for attracting them to our gardens with plants.  Other means of providing food, shelter, and water will also be featured.

7/11 Berries from Garden to Table / Instructors - Cheryl Knapp & Cindy Young

Master Gardeners and Master Food Preservers combine their knowledge in this class on berries. Master Gardeners will discuss how to grow and care for the various berry plants, and deal with common diseases and pests in our area. Master Food Preservers will show how to preserve the garden bounty in fun and creative ways… from basic jams and jellies, flavored vinegars, pie fillings, and more!

7/14 Sustainable Organic Gardening Workshop / Instructors - Various

Presented by Master Gardeners and Master Food Preservers in collaboration with the Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians. Seven breakout sessions will be offered, along with a keynote speaker. 7/21 3rd Saturday with Barry / Instructor - Barry Wold

A lot of things continue to happen in the summer vegetable garden. Master Gardener Barry Wold and his colleagues will discuss irrigation, fall planning, and winter crops. Its hot outside but it’s not too early to plan!! Please note - class will begin earlier starting this month.

7/21 The Good, the Bad, and the Bugly / Instructor - Mary Tran

Join Master Gardener Mary Tran to practice recognizing our insect and spider allies and ways to protect and encourage them to hang around the garden. Insects of all kinds, the Good, the Bad, and the Bugly – will be discussed.
