UC Master Gardeners are trained volunteers who have completed a 50-hour program of instruction in basic horticulture and pest management and are certified by the University of California Cooperative Extension. They in turn assist the Cooperative Extension by extending information on gardening and pest management to the public. They are qualified to speak on a variety of topics including sustainable landscaping, roses, perennials, trees, vegetables, soils, drip irrigation, turf, landscape design, Integrated Pest Management and weed control.
