Blueberry plants show chlorosis (yellowing of the younger leaves) if the pH of the soil becomes too high.
Blueberries are fairly pest-free and disease-free, although you may have to protect the blueberries from birds and other critters.In addition, citrus thrips have expanded its host range from citrus to become the number one pest of blueberries. A thrips assault decreases blueberry new growth, which is where berries form the following spring. Adults and immature thrips feed on newly developing flush; stems and leaves become scarred, discolored, or even die. A team of UC researchers is working to develop an integrated pest management program for this pest. Thus far, there have been no hotline reports of citrus thrips on blueberries.
