    Description: Evergreen shrub native to central California

    Habit and form: Slow growing shrub with many stems, to 4 to 6 feet tall and wide; dark green leaves which are whitish underneath. Older bark is light colored and peels; new shoots are purplish

    Flower type: Appear at ends of branches; flat, anemone-like, with 5 petals

    Flower color & bloom season: Scented, white flowers, 1½ to 3 inches wide with a yellow center. Blooms in late spring and summer

    Pruning time & method: Prune to shape and reduce size after flowering

    Maintenance tips: Inspect occasionally for aphids and mites
