The Nevada County 4-H Youth Development Program is primarily club based. You are welcome to join 4-H anytime of the year, although most project and club activities are held from September through May. Eligibility to participate in the local fair reflects participation in projects conducted during that time period. Re-enrolling members must re-enroll by November 1. New members must enroll by January 1 in order to show/and or sell an animal at the fair. Further participation requirements for fair are found in the Nevada County 4-H Steps to Success 2015-16.
1. Find a local 4-H Club. Click Community Clubs and locate a 4-H Club that you are interested in joining. Here you can find out Club Leader contact information and when their meetings are scheduled. For information about Nevada County 4-H Clubs please visit Club Information.
2. If you have any questions about the club, contact the Community Club Leader or attend a Community Club Meeting. The meetings are generally held once a month. Pay particular attention to what interests you and your child. Ask when project meetings are held and contact the project leader for meeting details. Ask about any special provisions for attendance requirements, fundraiser participation, club community service projects, etc. Once you find a club that best suits your family...
3. It's time to enroll! Enrollment in 4-H is done on-line. The Youth Enrollment fee is $40.00. Adult Enrollment for those wishing to serve as adult volunteer project leaders is $15.00. Please pay your enrollment fee to your club and bring your health history/medical form to your club. PLEASE NOTE: The DEADLINE for enrollment for re-enrolling members is November 1st (January 1st for NEW members) to be eligible to show and/or sell an animal at the Nevada County Fair, and earn a 4-H stripe and year pin.
