The 4-H year runs from July 1st through June 30th each year, but a majority of projects coincide with the school calendar. Placer County 4-H has 12 clubs in local communities throughout the county offering a variety of projects to youth between the ages of 5 to 19 years old. The types of projects offered by each club will not be precisely known until early fall, since projects are run by adult volunteers.

4-H is an educational program of the University of California Cooperative Extension made available through a partnership of county, state, and federal governments.

Through this youth development program positive opportunities are available for youth to develop life skills and become engaged in their local communities. The 4-H program combines the efforts of youth, volunteer leaders, and University staff and faculty to create a fun, hands-on learning approach to a non-formal education.
