Our Team

The University of California system has many resources for poultry health, welfare, and science. Cooperative Extension, at the UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine, provides teaching, research and service programs on disease prevention, production quality control, biotechnology, food safety and animal well-being.

Here is a list of poultry-related resources at Cooperative Extension and the University of California in general:

Dr. Mary E. Delany, PhD

Delany
Professor
Developmental Genetics
UC Davis College of Biological Sciences

2223B Meyer Hall
Davis, CA 95616

medelany@ucdavis.edu

Research Interests: Dr. Delany's research focuses on avian telomere biology, with chicken being the primary organism under study. Other interests include gene mapping and chromosome organization, congenital and inherited developmental mutations, and conservation of poultry and avian genetic resources.

Dr. Rodrigo Gallardo, DVM, PhD

Gallardo
Assistant Professor
Population Health & Reproduction
UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine

4009 VM3B
Davis, CA 95616

ragallardo@ucdavis.edu

Research Interests: Dr. Gallardo's research interests are in the area of the avian virology, specifically in RNA viruses and their capabilities of mutation, recombination and variation that make them very difficult to control in productive settings.

Dr. Alec Gerry, PhD

Gerry
Associate Professor of Entomology
College of Natural and Agricultural Sciences
UC Riverside
