Introduction:

Honey bees play a valuable role in our food system and environment by providing pollination services to plants and producing honey and related products. Beekeepers support pollination activity and honey production by managing domesticated European honey bee (EHB) hives also known as apiaries. The University of California Cooperative Extension San Diego is collaborating with key partner stakeholders to share information on bee health and beekeeping best management practices, including current research and regulations. The objective of this program effort is to promote healthy and successful apiaries and the beekeeping industry at large with optimum safety for beekeepers, neighbors and communities.
