Information Desk
Master Gardeners staff Information Desks in Santa Rosa and in Sonoma. Our volunteer staff promotes successful gardening experiences and sustainable gardening practices by providing home gardeners with research based information from the University of California and other academic or government institutions. The staff has access to an extensive library, University of California Agricultural Advisors, university internet sites and a microscope for researching home gardening problems. Home gardeners can bring their questions or specimens to the Information Desk or contact the Information Desk by phone or email.
Plant specimens should be fresh and submitted in sealed plastic bags. Home gardeners requesting help solving a plant problem should submit samples of the plant that include leaves, stems, roots, flowers and fruits when possible. Plant specimens that are submitted for identification should include intact flowers.
Insects that are submitted for identification should be in plastic jars with secure lids.
