4-H Healthy Living Ambassadors
About 4-H Healthy Living Ambassador Program
The 4-H Healthy Living Ambassador (HLA) Program aims to meaningfully engage teens in service learning activities that promote the health and well-being of their communities while providing them with skill building and leadership opportunities.
Our garden program pairs teens with local elementary afterschool programs to teach a nutrition, gardening and physical activity curriculum for two hours a week for 10 weeks in the spring. In the spring of 2016, we worked with 42 teens at 7 different elementary school garden sites, reaching approximately 165 students each week across San Mateo and San Francisco counties. Our teen teachers begin this program with an intensive training at Elkus Ranch Environmental Education Center in Half Moon Bay. Click here for full program information.
