ANR’s Role in Addressing Climate Change: Research and Extension Needs

This session will focus on emerging research and extension needs across the state in light of climate change. Adaptation and mitigation strategies will need to occur at several levels. Adaptation to climate change requires better understanding of climate change scenarios and the potential for carbon sequestration in underutilized lands such as deserts. Mitigation strategies such as cap and trade regulations depend on improved measurements and identifying available landscapes for carbon sequestration. The session will conclude with examples of agronomic approaches for adapting to warmer climates.
