Calocedrus decurrens (calo-ce-drus  de-cur-rens)

  • Not a true Cedar actually in cypress family
  • Grows natively from N. Baja to Oregon's Mt. Hood & above 2000’ elevation in the Sierra Nevada
  • A columnar cedar that can grow to heights of 130 to 195 feet and a trunk diameter of up to 9.8 feet
  • Has rich bright green color in fan-like foliage & Cinnamon colored bark that starts out smooth and becomes fissured as tree ages
  • Seed bearing cones on branches that have scalelike leaves
