Does the disease that kills cypress trees die after u cut it down. I'm going to make walking sticks or canes with the cut branches should I soak them or spray them or if I stain them will that work. As a suffacant I'm also going to seal them with clear varnish

Hi Jim, thanks for the question. If you're referring to Cypress canker, the disease does live on after an infected tree or limbs are removed. Check out this website from Ventura County. It has some good information about preventing the spread of the disease -
