The members of the Western Apicultural Society (WAS) welcome you to examine our site to learn more about our Society, to become a member, or to preregister for our Annual Conference.
If you have an idea of specifically what information you desire, you can see every entry on this site by clicking the "Site Map" button above. Each entry has a link directly to the topic of interest.
If you have questions about honey bees or beekeeping, we suggest that you contact Dr. Eric Mussen, Extension Apiculturist, University of California, Davis - 530-752-0472 or at firstname.lastname@example.org. If Dr. Mussen does not have a ready response, he is familiar with the country's honey bee researchers, extension specialists, and regulatory personnel, so he should be able to forward your request to a knowledgeable individual.
WAS 2014 Annual Conference - September 17-20, 2014,
WAS President, Dr. Jerry Bromenshenk, has devoted a great deal of time and energy pulling together a number of interesting events that will combine to form our 2014 Was Annual Conference.
Please refer to the President's message and the different pages of conference details to learn about the coming conference.
Jerry sees our current membership "greying" around him. With all the new interest in beekeeping, there must be a pool of younger folks to fill in like we did (Yikes!) 35 years ago.
We have been told to move over to social media and stop thinking about putting our messages on paper, anymore. Well, we won't abandon the print media, yet, but we are making plans for "going social."
In that regard, Jerry is thinking about trying to put together a beekeeping directory of the western states that would include the names of all the local clubs that have been popping up all over the place. If you are aware of one or more of those clubs, and they have a serious interest in being on such a list, please send the verified contact information to Jerry and he will compile the data for distribution on our website. Jerry has set up a unique email account for this and other 2014 conference matters at: email@example.com.
