The Division of Agriculture and Natural Resources (ANR), also known as Cooperative Extension, is a statewide network of University of California researchers and educators dedicated to the creation, development, and application of knowledge in agricultural, natural, and human resources.

The University of California Cooperative Extension (UCCE) conducts applied research and extension, develops educational programs, and serves as an educational resource for youth development and informal science education. Learn more about UCCE.

In the San Francisco North Bay (Marin, Sonoma, and Napa counties), the 4-H Youth Development Staff offer relevant expertise for out-of-school time, afterschool, and informal learning opportunities.

We can help you (youth development educators) with the following outreach methods:

1. Host 4-H Program Models at your location
   On-going cooperative partnership between your facility and the UCCEs 4-H Youth Development Program. Programs may include a 4-H Club, a 4-H school enrichment program, or 4-H afterschool education program. Costs vary based on program model (from $0 to $58 per youth).
     
2. Support your staff with Professional Development
   Experts conduct hands-on training on either a specific curriculum and/or youth development/pedagogy. Participants develop the skills necessary to successfully implement a curriculum or more effectively work with their clientele. No costs as workshops are currently subsidized by UCCE.
     
3. Receive Evaluation Assistance
   Consult with experts in evaluation methodology to identify learning/development outcomes, appropriate instruments, and analysis techniques to successfully evaluate your youth development programming. No costs as technical assistance is currently subsidized by UCCE.
     
4. Link to Research-based Youth Development Resources
   UCCE can provide links to relevant research-based information to guide program design, implementation, and evaluation. Tap into the University of California system, as well as the Cooperative Extension System of 110+ land-grant colleges and universities across the U.S.
