The Small Farms Community Educator will join a team of UC ANR academics and staff working to expand extension services in support of small-scale, diversified, and socially disadvantaged farmers. Community Educators will work under the general supervision of UC ANR Small Farms Advisors in 7 county-based regions throughout the state to increase outreach, individual technical assistance, training, and research-based extension to assist farmers in accessing markets and assistance programs, complying with regulations, and improving crop production. Duties include developing multi-lingual educational materials, conducting outreach and individual meetings with farmers, managing websites and social media tools, assisting with agricultural research and data management, planning and conducting workshops, and evaluating program impacts. The team will work closely with non-profit organizations to coordinate and leverage statewide technical assistance efforts.

This position will promote, in all ways consistent with the other responsibilities of the position, accomplishment of the Affirmative Action goals established by the Division.

This position is a career appointment that is 100% fixed, and ends one year from date of hire, with the possibility of extension if funding permits.
