Under the direction of the Farm Smart program manager, lead the education and outreach activities at the UC Desert Research and Extension Center. This position will connect with stakeholders (school districts, teachers, farmers, local organizations and agencies). Conduct group agriculture and nutrition education classes, activities and community events (as required) using UC approved curricula, may provide food demonstrations and food tastings, and distribute educational materials to community partners. Recruit program participants to meet established enrollment and outcome requirements, and track and maintain required program-related paperwork, inventory, activity reports, and other documentation. Assist with planning special events in collaboration with program leadership and community partners, and work to establish relationships with new partners. May be responsible for collecting and compiling enrollment documentation, evaluation data, maintenance and delivery of agriculture and nutrition education curricula inventory, and report writing. Participate in approved training and development activities to learn and maintain programmatic and subject matter competence. Perform data entry of program-related paperwork into shared database. Participate in fundraising efforts for the sustainability of the outreach programs.

Desert Research and Extension Center, located in Holtville, California. We are committed to agricultural research and education in the Imperial Valley desert and specialize in vegetable crops, alfalfa, desert cattle feeding, irrigation and drainage management, and pest management. We develop programs to address current challenges in these areas.


Hourly Salary: Min $17.19/hr. to Mid $23.65/hr.
