Purpose. The Integrated Vineyard Systems Area Advisor will implement an extension education and applied research program to develop and extend knowledge on designing and managing vineyards adapted to changing climate and market conditions with a focus on the premium wine industry of the region
The Advisor will provide leadership, information transfer, and technical help in this prestigious wine-production area; addressing an increasing array of needs around adapted wine grape plant materials; current best practices in vineyard design for plant health, productivity and longevity; production costs; precision farming; winegrowing farming certification systems. The Advisor educates and assists growers to meet regulatory compliance with regulations specifically focused on vineyard farming practices.

Opportunities abound for research and extension partnerships that link consumers and resource professionals with relevant science-based information and promote effective problem solving. You will also join a team of highly motivated UCCE colleagues who are passionate about their work and are dedicated to making a difference within the communities and working landscapes of California. The potential for collaborative projects within the UC ANR system is nearly limitless, including the possibility of designing and implementing a commercial scale research vineyard at the Hopland Research and Extension Center.
Education: A minimum of a master's degree in plant sciences with a concentration in viticulture or a closely related field is required at time of appointment.
Salary & Benefits

Benefits: The University of California offers comprehensive benefits including vacation, sick leave, and approximately thirteen paid holidays per year. This position is eligible for sabbatical leave privileges as per the terms of University policy and is eligible for indefinite status.
