Continuing our commitment to hiring Cooperative Extension specialists and advisors, I am announcing the release of positions for future rounds of hiring. These positions are now in the queue and will be released for recruitment as we are sure funding is available to move forward. We will continue to be nimble and retain the ability to address unforeseen critical gaps as they emerge, so the hiring schedule may vary. Some positions have been, or may be, modified based upon timely programmatic analyses.
As a reminder, these positions emerged from the process where more than 120 Cooperative Extension positions were proposed and a thorough review was conducted. This review included the consideration of...
I am pleased to share some exciting news. The California Rice Research Board has agreed to fund a UC Cooperative Extension specialist position for six years.
This is a pioneering step in a new direction for funding public research. This innovative partnership between the agricultural community and UC Agriculture and Natural Resources recognizes the immediate importance of rice research and the need for this new funding model. I want to thank the California Rice Research Board for being the first.
The $800 million rice industry makes California the nation’s second largest rice producer. UC conducts research on weed control, pest management and variety testing for rice crops to keep...
In 2012, ANR will seek supplemental proposals for advisor and specialist positions to address programmatic gaps that were not previously identified or that have arisen since the last call.

During the coming round, the position submission system will be open both for new submissions and for revision and resubmission of earlier position proposals that were not selected for recruitment. The online...

Below are the specialist and advisor positions I have approved for recruitment and hiring in October 2011:
- Land change science specialist, in discussion with UC Berkeley College of Natural Resources, Environmental Science, Policy &...

Virtually all of the proposals met important needs and would contribute to the Strategic Vision, the Strategic Initiatives and critical program needs. However, due to budget realities, 20 were chosen for priority hiring.
In May, Allen-Diaz explained to the California Commodities Commission ANR’s process of narrowing the list to 13 advisor positions -- including the 5 advisor positions approved by VP Dooley...
